All Things Cake
I love all things cake. In fact, I have a Pinterest board dedicated just to cake, specifically different themes and designs. My love for food and desire for dessert is probably why I enjoy photographing cake smash session so much. These little birthday celebrations are so fun and festive. I do cake smashes for my daughter just for fun all the time. It's a blast!
My newest cake smash ad.
One of the neat little duties I have is to coordinate the cake. In this case, cupcake.
I recently relocated from London, Ontario. In London, I would always order smash cakes from the same reliable cakery. Now, the research began all over again as I settled in to my new city, my hometown of Windsor, Ontario. You would think finding a baker to make smash cakes at a affordable price would be easy - think again! I have been sending my hubby on a detour to Candies Cakery whenever he is there for business. I can always rely on her for decor and price.
Recently, I thought about doing something different and still sweet so instead of a cake I decided to do a large cupcake. I was going for classic, simple yet fun. I found it. Behold, 3 Girls and a Cupcake. They are like cupcake gurus. Just looking at these dreamy fluffy bad boys makes my tummy flip and growl. Packaged to perfection and delivered right to my door - this place should be on everyone's speed dial.
Above: The individual cupcake for The Cupcake Smash. This was fantastic to present to my client before I placed it on to the cake stand. Picture perfect.
That was robin's egg blue, fluffy, creamy, sweet and delightful icing with sprinkles on top.
The large cupcake really turned out to be make a simple, classic and fun statement for a little guy's 1st birthday.
Aha, behold this delightful Spring inspired cakelette. I am koo koo for fondant art! I gotta learn how to do this!!
I usually get vanilla cake for all my cake smashes - less potential for allergic reactions. I just love classic vanilla cake too. Classic vanilla cake always reminds me of my birthday party at McDonald's when I was a wee one.
Below: Hot pink, black and white. My client handled the colour scheme and decor with this one. She went bold, fun yet classy. I'm lovin' the big "1".
The tattoo cake for a Rockabilly theme cake smash. Isn't the blue here just gorgeous?!
Cakes nowadays are so artful. The options are limitless. Any theme imagined can be done.
Food + Art = I'm there!
Hungry for cake now? You gotta be!
